Knit a Northern Yarn

For a good story to tell ...
and a unique gift made of the world’s warmest fibre!
Book a knitting weekend in Whitehorse, Yukon!

Folknits will host your northern knitting adventure ...
with a workshop to introduce you to qiviuq,
the warmest & lightest natural fibre
spun from the undercoat of muskox.

You will make a pair of qiviuq hand warmers under the direction of Wendy Chambers, internationally renowned fibre artist.
You will see muskox and other northern mammals in their natural habitat at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve and learn about them from a northern biologist.
You will visit Takhini Hot Springs for a relaxing soak in the natural mineral waters. You will see the sights of historic Whitehorse and visit a couple of local galleries with fibre art.
Your northern knitting adventure combines a unique knitting project, with a great tourism experience in the companionship of a dozen other knitters from Alberta and British Columbia.
